Yescapade Great Britain Activities
The Yescapade Team assembled a group for a show and event in Nottingham for Dec 2001. Due to a variety of issues, it was necessary to cancel the party after tickets had gone on sale. Since the folks did such a great job getting the event together, we thought we should leave this page up as a tribute to their efforts. What follows is the main activities page for the Yescapade GB, which was to feature Peter Banks and Fragile as well as David Watkinson at a posh nightclub in Nottingham.

Yescapade Great Britain will be held in Nottingham,
UK
Saturday, December 8, 2001
10:00 AM - 4:00 PM (check back for possible
time adjustment)
Venue: The Works
Nottingham, near Sherwood Forest and the
legendary home of Robin Hood, will play host
to the magic of Yes music on December 8,
2001. Yescapade has decided to capture that
magic by hosting a pre-show fan gathering
on the day of the show to be held there.
We invite you to join us at the Yescapade
- GB in Nottingham where you can meet with
old friends, find new friends, listen to
live music, Yes rarities, eat, drink and
otherwise get prepared for the great show
to be held later in the evening.
We have already lined up a great show for
you :
Our special guest, Peter Banks, will be meeting
fans and signing copies of his new book,
"Beyond and Before". As Yes' original
lead guitar player, Peter has long held a
special place in Yes history. Peter will
be speaking to the audience, and will be
sure to have some interesting insights into
the history of Yes.
Live music will be provided by "Fragile",
the U.K.'s premier Yes tribute band, well
known the world over for their success playing
the complex music of Yes. They are hoping
to be joined by Peter Banks for part of their
set.
David Watkinson will be autographing his
new book discussing the history of Yes, "Perpetual
Change: Thirty Years of Yes Music".
Yes has been touring the world in support
of their new album "Magnification",
available in the UK now. This album features
the band as a four piece, replacing the traditional
keyboard role with full orchestration. The
tour in the United States was spectacular
and very well received, and the European
tour will have already encompassed both East
and West prior to arriving in the British
Isles.
Due to Yes' intense travel schedule, we do
not know if Yes members will be able to attend
at this time. The band is aware of the Yescapade
in Nottingham and has been invited to attend.
We will hope to have more data on this as
the day approaches.
We look forward to meeting you at Yescapade
Great Britain. Sign up now, as seating is
limited.

Born in England April 8, 1947, Peter played
lead guitar for a number of bands from 1964
on. His early work and association with Chris
Squire in Mabel Greer's Toyshop and Syn led
to his becoming the original Yes lead guitarist.
Peter departed after their second album,
but the sound he created for Yes has lived
on, perfected by his replacement in Yes,
Steve Howe. Peter has kept a lower profile
since then, leading a band called Flash,
and recording a variety of solo albums.
We are thrilled to have Peter coming by for
a book signing and a question and answer
session. We are even hoping that he'll join
Fragile for a few songs to recreate the sound
of early Yes.

David Watkinson lives in south-east England
with his wife Laura and young son Charles.
He works in the antique business and has
been a YES fan and collector of the band's
memorabilia for over 25 years. To enter the
"office" in David's home is akin
to stepping into a veritable museum of Yes
with tour programmes facing rarer artifacts
such as an award given to the band by Bilboard
magazine many years ago.
David's obsession with Yes has spawned many
articles in Yes fanzines and late last year
he wrote an extensive article on the band
for "Record Collector" magazine.
The article is due for publication soon and
will contain interviews with members of the
band coupled with meticulously researched
collector's information.
It is this fascination with all things Yes
coupled with painstaking research that has
led to "Perpetual Change" being
born. David describes the book as a dream
that he has lived with for years and is clearly
excited at the prospect of the dream becoming
reality.
